16th Nov 2018 India Kawasaki announces a launch of Versys 1000 MY2020 by opening pre-booking facility for customers. The newly introduced Versys 1000 in the Indian market will be a standard variant, which will be assembled locally in the plant of India Kawasaki Motors. Boasting even greater comfort and versatility, the Versys 1000 is designed to offer maximum riding enjoyment across a wide variety of street riding situations like its predecessor. Its relaxed, upright riding position offers a high level of machine control, and is complemented by a highly comfortable seat and good wind protection, making it easy to spend a long time in the saddle.

Mr. Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director, India Kawasaki Motors Pvt. Ltd, said, “Versys 1000 is known as any road, any time motorcycle. It also has the most versatile adventure-style for fun sport riding and touring. The locally assembled Versys 1000 certainly gives us an advantage to sell the bike at a very attractive price, but most importantly, we are happy to create more buying opportunities for our highly enthusiastic customers. We had a good success with earlier Versys 1000. In the recent times, we have received good number of enquiries from customers and therefore we again expect a good success with the new Versys 1000.“

A key to the Versys 1000’s fun factor is the exciting liquid-cooled, in-line four engine, which delivers more than just performance figures. The new Versys 1000 benefits from numerous upgrades that add to both riding exhilaration and touring potential. The engine now boasts Electronic Throttle Valves (ETV), which enable the addition of Electronic Cruise Control. The ETV system is Kawasaki’s first system with the accelerator position sensor located in the handle. Eliminating the throttle cable means less maintenance. In the standard model, updated front and rear suspension settings contribute to plusher feeling suspension.

In addition to standard ABS, the Versys 1000 is equipped with Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System (KIBS). This Kawasaki’s supersport-grade high-precision brake management system is now standard equipment on the Versys 1000. New instrumentation with an advanced, high-tech design gives the Versys 1000 cockpit a very high-class appearance. The analogue-style tachometer is complemented by a full digital LCD screen. In addition to the digital speedometer and standard gear position indicator, display functions include fuel gauge, odometer, dual trip meters, current and average fuel consumption, remaining range, bank angle display and max bank angle recording function, coolant temperature, intake air temperature, clock, economical riding indicator, and IMU indicator. The addition of advanced Kawasaki IMU-equipped rider support systems contributes to riding enjoyment as well as rider confidence.

Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) offers three modes, which cover a wide range of riding conditions, offering either enhanced sport riding performance or the peace of mind under certain conditions to negotiate slippery surfaces with confidence. The Versys 1000 boasts attractive features such as adjustable windscreen, twin LED headlamps and emotional design.

While the Versys 1000 will be available in candy steel furnace orange colour, its ex-showroom price and specifications will be released in due course of time. Customers can pre-book the Versys 1000 MY2020 for an amount of Rs. 1,50,000 at the authorized dealership of India Kawasaki Motors and can expect the delivery of the bike post April 2019. The pre-booking facility is open from 16th November 2018 till 31st December 2018. As this bike will be produced in limited numbers in first lot, the bookings will be closed after reaching targeted numbers.

Double Champion Rea Makes Superbike History With Kawasaki

Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) secured his second FIM Superbike World Championship in succession thanks to a second place finish in the opening race at Losail in Qatar. The last time this feat was achieved was 17 years ago. Tom Sykes (KRT) finished fourth in the race to remain second in the championship standings, with one race remaining tomorrow.

Rea, who had won his eighth career Superpole contest earlier in the day to start from the best grid spot, was intent on winning the 17-lap race to secure the title as he enjoyed a large points cushion of 48 over Sykes at the start of the day. Tom was the only rider who could possibly catch Jonathan on this final weekend of the 13 round season, but the title was decided one race before the end after Rea’s podium ride.

Rea is one of only four riders to have won WorldSBK titles from one year to the next, joining Carl Fogarty (twice), Doug Polen and Fred Merkel in that exclusive club.

In race one at the 5.380km Losail circuit Rea had chased eventual race winner Chaz Davies in the early laps and held station behind him for some time. Jonathan eventually eased off to earn more than enough points to make his second championship secure.

Sykes could not make his optimum pace in the early laps on fresh tyres but towards the end he made up ground and went from fifth to fourth by passing Nicky Hayden on the last lap and closing in on eventual final place podium man, Sylvain Guintoli.

With one race left to run there are still many possibilities for each KRT rider but Sykes will now concentrate his efforts defending his second place in the points ranking, as he is now seven points ahead of Davies.
Jonathan currently has 482 points and Sykes 427, ahead of the final race of the year.

Race two will take place at 21.00 on Sunday 30th October, local Qatar time.

Jonathan Rea, stated: “It is incredible to have won back-to-back championships. It is very raw right now because I have not had time to take it in, but to have such a year like I had last year – and then this year with the new bike – I think we faced a lot more challenges this time. I am really happy and proud of our work because this bike was so new. To win in the first year of a new model is incredible and I want to thank Kawasaki for building such a good base bike. I expect to go from strength to strength. It felt like we really had to win the championship this time so I have to thank everybody all around me in the team. I want to thank each and every one of them.”

Tom Sykes, stated: “Congratulations to Johnny because two on the bounce is great. He is riding very well and it is credit to the team and Kawasaki Racing. We have come from way back in 2011 and they have been so consistent in the last few years, fighting for world titles. This year I am not the rider to take the title on the Ninja but at least the trophy is staying inside Kawasaki. It was a really strange race today because I could not get the pace in the beginning but towards the end I felt we improved it. It seems to me like I was also catching Sylvain at the end but the race was too short to make a good ending.”

Guim Roda, Team Manager, stated: “I would like to pass my biggest congratulations to Johnny for his consecutive title wins. A championship win is something very difficult to achieve, and even more so for two in a row. It has been a very complicated year, much more than people can see from outside, so for me his job has been of great value. I hope he enjoys the moment with all his friends and family, because for sure all in KRT will enjoy it for some days. All the staff from KRT and Kawasaki always try their best to give our riders the right tools to make their dreams come true. We all are very happy for Rea make his dream come true while riding the green power machine.”

Steve Guttridge, Kawasaki Europe Racing Manager, stated: “We all know that winning any championship is so difficult. Johnny made that look almost easy last year on our fully proven KRT race bike.
We understood that defending that number 1 plate at this level of racing was going to be an even tougher challenge in 2016. Our all-new Ninja ZX-10R proved to be an excellent base. With intelligent development on and around the WorldSBK circuits this season all of the team and JR have made an incredible job again in retaining that Championship title for Kawasaki.”

Shigemi Tanaka of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Motorcycle and Engine Company, Marketing Department, stated: “Congratulations to Jonathan, it is a great accomplishment to win the World Superbike title in two consecutive years. I am sure that all Kawasaki fans across the world will join KHI in congratulating Jonathan on his achievement and also thanking Tom Sykes for a year of excellent performances. This back-to-back championship highlights once more the excellence of Ninja ZX-10R as a supreme road bike and an unbeatable racing package.”

MY19 new Ninja H2, H2 Carbon & H2R launched in India.

22nd Aug 2018 India Kawasaki launches a range of hypersport bikes of MY19 in India. The range includes new Ninja H2, Ninja H2 Carbon and Ninja H2R. Known for “Built Beyond Belief”, all these three models have already received numerous accolades in India.

Kawasaki’s most powerful street models already have plenty of innovations which are complemented only by the highest quality components. The MY19 models have some key updates in which the most noticing update is the increase in maximum power to 231 PS in the Ninja H2. In the recently held Bonneville Speed Week motorsports an independent team made up of Kawasaki engineers succeeded in setting a world speed record of 209.442 mph (337.064 km/h) on the Kawasaki flagship Ninja H2 in the P-PB 1000 class.

On the occasion of the launch Mr. Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motors Pvt. Ltd, said “Our Ninja H2 range has an elegant artwork & profound engineering supported by advance technology. When it was launched in India 2016, the response was stunning. I hope we receive the same response from the market especially to the new Ninja H2 which has lofty performance.”

Apart from the increase in maximum power, the new Ninja H2 now has new TFT colour instrumentation along with smartphone connectivity to enable riders connect to their motorcycle wirelessly. Using the smartphone application “RIDEOLOGY THE APP,” a number of instrument functions such as vehicle info, riding log, telephone notice, general settings etc. can be accessed. When riding (with the app ON), the bike and smartphone are always connected.  Once the engine is turned off, or the smartphone is out of range (approximately 20 m) of the instrument’s Bluetooth chip, the latest riding information is stored by the app and may be viewed on the smartphone.

In case of brake, MY19 model is fitted with Brembo’s Stylema monobloc calipers which are the company’s latest high-spec street-use calipers. Compared to the previous M50 units, the new calipers have less volume around the pistons and brake pads. This reduces the internal space taken up by brake fluid, enabling a more direct response.

In addition to all the updates, the new Ninja H2 also features Kawasaki’s new Highly Durable paint with a special coat that allows scratches to repair themselves, enabling the paint to maintain its high-quality finish. While in some cases the recovery will require one week, in some cases the paint will not recover if the scratches caused by a coin or key, or zip fasteners. For improved handling new Bridgestone RS11 sport tyres have been added. Besides, all the lighting equipment (headlamp, position lamps, taillight, turn signals and license plate lamp) on the Ninja H2 is now LED.

Further added Mr. Yamashita, “As we are opening the booking now, we would like our customers to take a note that Ninja H2 Carbon and Ninja H2R will be available in a very limited quantity. Ninja H2 Carbon is limited in numbers as it is strenuous production and in Ninja H2R is a very special product and will always be produced in limited quantity.”

As far as changes to MY19 Ninja H2R is concerned, it also now receives, Brembo’s new Stylema monobloc calipers, the new “Supercharged” emblem and Kawasaki’s Highly Durable paint.
